Anne Murphy

     “Glass is magic in the way it unlocks imagination. Whether transformed into spectacular art that dazzles us or made into household items that quietly enhance our lives, there’s something amazing about glass. Some say glass reflects the ideas of its maker and mirrors all the different facets of human nature.  I believe that,” says Anne Murphy.   

      Murphy works as Director of Marketing and Development, handling a variety of projects from promotion to developing partnerships to marketing. “It gives me the unique opportunity to blend my experience and love of art and business,” she says.  Her work in the arts spans some 20 years as a visual artist (commercial and fine art photographer), designer, Director of Communications and Marketing, Executive Director, arts advocate, writer for the arts, and arts consultant.

      When she worked on a committee in preparation for the Glass Art Society conference in 2006, which was hosted by Third Degree, she had the opportunity to learn more about glass.  “And the more I learned, the more I was fascinated by contemporary glass art and the process of creating it,” she says. 

     Her enthusiasm makes her work easy. “When you’re excited about what you do, you can’t help but talk about it.  We promote what we do so more people can learn about glass and appreciate it.  Our artist instructors do a fabulous job of inspiring their students and imparting their love of glass. Every day, through all of our efforts, we are developing a glass community in St. Louis.”
